Open day Freemason’s Hall
Overall the event was well attended and the weather was perfect. Undoubtedly the star of the day was the 1967 Daimler Open Platform Bus, which provided a couple of free trips around Corby, in the afternoon this included a good number of residents from the Glenmoor care home, some of whom hadn’t been outside the home for over 4years.
The feedback was excellent.
Exhibitors included
- Lakelands Hospice – nurses were on hand, to provide advice which was asked for and given
- Royal British Legion – their attendance helped forge the Local Masonic / RBL partnership.
- Masonic Fishing Charity & Widows Sons – a new volunteer came to the event just to introduce himself.
- Teddies For Loving Care – BIG TED operated the meet and greet
- Discovering Freemasonry – this was operated by the Light Blues
- Mulliner Classic Car Lodge – ( see pics)
- Corbie Lodge, WME and his stories about meeting Mark Smith from the Antiques Roadshow
Although the event was not a fundraiser over £500 was donated to the various charities on the day.
CORBY LAMS ( Ladies Associate Members ) provided delicious cakes, scones etc, their regular coffee mornings are soon to commence, they are already an important part of the centre.
All of the Corby Lodges were represented, prospective candidates were shown round the centre, there were also a number of enquires about the fraternity, and some of the older brethren, who are NOT attending, due to not wanting to go out at night, came along.
There was a real buzz about the place, old and new getting together for a chat, a Mason emailed to say that he felt the complex had come alive today, high praise indeed.
